Streamcombe farm - Katy and Yusuf - Somerset wedding photography.

A forest ceremony followed by a beautiful marquee reception.

The groom getting ready in Shepherd’s hut. A 10-minute walk deep into a spectacular forest for the ceremony. A secret song by Tom and Giovanna Fletcher. Surrounded by nature.  Ceilidh dancing. To name but a few highlights, this wedding had it all!!!

Katy and Yusuf.

I feel like every blog I write I start by saying, ‘such and such couple’ are the most amazing people you’ll ever meet. But Katy and Yusuf really are.

Katy and Yusuf are both acting teachers, living in London but from Manchester. So how they ended up in this amazing wedding venue in the depths of Exmoor in Somerset was one of the first questions I asked. Literally, a friend recommended it to them, they drove down from London visited and fell in love.

Streamcombe farm is located on the edge of Exmoor and is certainly off the beaten track. They host cooking classes and weddings, also a B&B. The whole place is so beautiful. I love shooting at venues that are so real. An ancient stone barn with no horrible fire exit signs, or light switches insight.

Laughter from start to finish.

From the beginning to the end Katy and Yusuf treated me like a school friend. We still text every now and again now. Their guests and family also, so nice and I was constantly in stitches of laughter.

Now let’s get to know Katy and Yusuf better. I hope you enjoy the images after, it was a joy to create.

So how did you guys first meet?

We are a Tinder love story

How did Yusuf pop the question?  Anywhere nice?

We were on holiday in Portugal and took a day trip to Ilha Deserta…it’s a national park and conservation area and there was quite literally nobody there. Yusuf collected a couple of giant shells on the beach and hid the ring inside.

What made you guys choose the venue?

It was the only venue we actually ended up visiting. We knew as soon as we arrived that it was perfect. The walk up to the woodland ceremony area was stunning even in the autumn when everything had fallen from the trees.

What theme was the inspiration for your wedding?

We didn’t really have a theme, we just knew that we wanted it to be super chilled and a chance for everyone to escape for the weekend without a care in the world!

What made you choose your first dance song and what was it?

We chose Fleetwood Mac – Everywhere. We don’t necessarily have ‘a song’ and our tastes in music are quite different. My main concern was not having to do an awkward dance
This song ticked the boxes with the lyrics though (and it was one of the only songs we could both agree on!)

Any tips for future bride and grooms planning their big day?

It’s your special day so let that be the focus; do the things you love in a place that you love with the people that you love.

Also, we got so much joy our doing things ourselves (decorations, flowers, invites etc). Everything was so personal to us and really added to the vibe of the day.

Finally, (The best bit of any wedding) where is/was your honeymoon and how was it?

We went to Sumatra, Indonesia for a proper adventure. We spent a week staying in the jungle, trekking in search of Orangutans, and a week in a treehouse by the sea watching turtles popping out of the water over breakfast every morning. Our only regret was not booking for longer. It was a total slice of heaven!
